My Journey to the Commonwealth Games

On the 4th July 2017 (my birthday) I received the wonderful news that I had been selected as a physiotherapist at the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast.  I was honoured at being selected, nervous and so excited at this wonderful news.  This was definitely going to be the highlight of my 30 year career as a Physiotherapist.  Over the next few months leading up to the games I hope to share the journey with you.

I’m currently waiting for my work schedule at the games but I have received my working location as the Carrara Sports and Leisure Centre.  It is proposed that the following events will be held there: weightlifting, para-powerlifting, wrestling and badmington.  I’ll let you know what sports I get allocated to.

So far there has been lots of online training since I’m in WA and can’t travel to the Gold Coast for every training session.  The online has been terrific and I can’t wait for my role specific training which should be coming up soon.

Of course the uniform looks terrific so I will getting that soon and of course will show that off.

April will be upon us very quickly and before you know it, the games will be on.  I hope you’ll be watching.
